SEMINARS

Seminar on Climate Change Vulnerability - State Action Plan on CC and CDM in Rajasthan (3rd November, 2014)

CASA, Laya, INNEC and Rajmeru jointly organized a seminar on Climate Change Vulnerability, State Action Plan on Climate Change and CDM in Rajasthan on 3rd November at Institute of Development Studies, Jaipur. In the seminar different organization representatives participated who were working on climate change related issues. Lot of discussion took place in the seminar related to the Climate Change and CDM in Rajasthan. It was discussed that the Rajasthan Govt. had prepared the Rajasthan Action Plan on Climate Change (RAPCC) in 2011. Several State actions plans were made by state governments across the country to align regional priorities to the National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC; 2008). However most of these State Action Plans are gathering dust for lack of clear directions for implementation and apparent lack of funds.

From Climate perspective, the case of Rajasthan is unique for it is the state that has the greatest sensitivity, maximum vulnerability and lowest adaptive capacity. With highest probability of drought and scare water resources it’s vital to look at coherent policy responses

tailored to reduce vulnerability and build resilience to climate change impacts for its community and its ecosystems. This becomes even more important from the perspective of sustainable development for Rajasthan state.

Some cases were shared in the seminar with insights on the national study on Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) from Rajasthan centric lens. Rajasthan Government State Action Plan on Climate Change was also discussed in the context of the same.
